a really cool (expensive) clock

If you want to spend $400 on a really cool clock, we have just the thing! The notoriously cool Established & Sons have yet another cool-must-have-but-probably-can-never afford product. Check it out, it's called the "Two Timer Large" clock!

Update: Unica Home has the clock for $385!! Bust out those credit cards!!

a really cool recycled light

The editors here at CLI have been on the look out for a looong time in the hopes of finding a very unique ceiling light. Luckily, one of our interns came across a cool Canadian company (Castor Designs) that created this awesome "Recycled Tube Light" from recycled materials found at "architecturally significant buildings in Canada, such as the TD Tower designed by Mies van der Rohe, Toronto’s Old City Hall and University of Toronto." Very, very cool indeed. It seems $1,800 is a lot of money for a recycled light, but it's still not THAT bad compared other ceiling lights. They have a stand-up model for tables as well.

a really cool bed

Check out this awesome bed by Mieke Miejer. Called "Bed Blend" it is essentially a bed and chair combined into one. How genius. Not sure how much it costs, or even if it's commercially available, but if you are so inclined, inquire here:

Classic beauties

I love this really clever, cute and totally awesome chair by Enzo Mari (designed in the 1970s). I'm not sure if it's still in production (seems it was reissued by Aleph in 1995), but the cool thing about this Box Chair is that its designed to ship in one small box. They don't make things like they used to!

Must do more research on Enzo, an Italian genius!

Something cool from the old country*

I just learned of a great British designer called Oscar Narud. He is very cool. In particular, I like his use of everyday, mundane objects to create new functional items for a home (or an office or whatever). I'm a fan of his Keel Table and Stool. (Also, check out his "Hoist" apparatus on his website).

http://www.oscarnarud.com/

*When I say "old country," I refer to Great Britain, which is not to be mistaken from my native homeland of Mexico.

another cool place to hang your coat

I just discovered this awesome coat rack by Seletti (an Italian design company) called Harakiri. (By the way, Harakiri means ritual suicide in Japanese...) I'm not sure if Seletti is the designer, or just the manufacturer. It would help if I spoke Italian, but it's still cool regardless!

This is the only place I could find it available for around $256. A bit pricey, but the natural wood seems to be of good quality. http://www.decosphair.com/contenu/,se_meubler,porte_manteau_harakiri_seletti,0?idP=57634060&idRub=715

w.o.w.z.e.r.s.

A cool Dutch furniture company called Moooi worked with Welsh designers Fresh West lamp to create this Brave New World lamp. It is soo beautiful I just can't imagine having enough words to describe its majestic brilliance.

Check it out here: http://moooi.com/producten/183-brave-new-world-lamp.html

a beautiful classic

George Nakashima is a master wood worker, and he sure has made many classy and classic furniture. My favorite by far is the Straight Backed Chair. Soo lovely! They are on sale at a couple of places, most notably DWR and probably wwww.highbrowfurniture.com

all in one office -- ohh la la!!

Established & Sons must be one of the coolest furniture companies in the entire world! Just check out this cool office system by Matali Crasset (a cool French designer). A desk, file cabinets, lamp and a trash can! The colors are also super fun. This would go well in a giant loft, or perhaps in a space with a large living room. I can't seem to find the price, but I bet it costs around $15,000 or more.

If anyone knows the price, don't tell me. I don't want to know!

Check out Matali's site: http://www.matalicrasset.com/matali_crasset_flash.php?lg=en

cool storage for your printer or other stuff

This portable storage unit/table is pretty simple, but it is quite nice to look at and admire. I think there's something like this at Ikea, but I like this one better. They are a bit expensive at around $480...but what can you do? Oh, and it's designed by an American!

another awesome sofa

There is something very beautiful about this sofa. I think it might be combination of yellow, beige and grey? I don't know. It's just really, really cool. I want one!! Too bad they are only sold in the UK. If anyone knows of any company in the US and A that sells this cool Ella sofa, let me know!

something else i want

someday i want to have a home full of light oak wood. something about light colored oak wood is soo beautiful and soo peaceful. perhaps it makes me feel like i'm in nature. or maybe i feel i'm in some cool japanese cafe or something. which brings me to this really cool audio visual unit from habitat in the old england.

check it out here: http://www.habitat.co.uk/fcp/product/browse/Audio-visual-unit/955975

it's not that expensive, but it's not cheap either. and you have to build it yourself. and you have to have it shipped from england. hmmh. i bet they have something like this at room and board.

holy moly!

When I first saw these speakers, the first thing I said was "holy moly" and "Me want!" -- and then I calmed down because at almost $500, they are pretty pricey. I still think Audio Engine speakers are the best deal out there (see my archives for an earlier post), but these Ceramic speakers are pretty awesome "irregardless." They would certainly make a nice gift!

Check them out here: http://joeyroth.com/ceramic-speakers/?utm_source=Apartment+Therapy+Daily+Email&utm_campaign=2fedbcc774-AT_Email_11_17_0911_17_2009&utm_medium=email

Divine sofa -- where are you?

Other than being available at this great store called Scandinavian Grace, we can't seem to find the Divine Sofa by Jonas Ihreborn anywhere! Where, oh where, can you be, little Divine Sofa? Come out, meet us! We Americans are not that scary! We love you! Please come to us, and let us glare upon you with our naked eyes.

Anyway, this sofa is available in other colors aside from orange. I once saw it in navy blue, and it was quite charming. The sofa costs about $4,000, which is pretty expensive, but if it's European made and imported, and if it lasts forever, that's not too bad. Especially compared to the Polder Sofa...

another cool place to hang your bag or coat

Design House Stockholm is super cool. They have such neat and fun products. I wish I lived in Sweden. I wonder if everyone in Sweden has super cool design-y homes? I wonder if the Swedes spend all day thinking about what couch looks better, and where to place pictures on their walls. If any of our dedicated CLI readers out there are Swedish, please fill us in! We might even throw in one pound of our favorite cheese!

Anyway, I digress. Here is another great place to hang your coat, bag, hat, scarf, or whatever else. At $40 each, the price is not awesome, but it's pretty decent. Santa, oh Santa! Are you listening, Santa?!

an eco friendly fire place

If you are like me and don't like cold weather, and you don't necessarily like using the heater in the winter in order to save energy, you are in luck today! Check out this amazing fire place, that requires no maintenance, no installation and looks super cool. Designed by Marc Philipp Veenendaal, this Eco Smart product is simply too cool to pass up. I'm about to start researching where I can get one. Imagine sitting in front of this beautiful, retro looking fire place, and sipping hot cocoa! Winter, you are now welcome!

more awesomeness

I stumbled upon another awesome piece of furniture recently in the most stylish country in the world. (Sorry, Italy or France, I'm not talking about you!)

Check out this awesome Stack 8 drawer system. The colors and the functionality are just soo fun, you would have to be crazy not to want this. Unless of course you have oddly shaped clothing or something that would prevent you from...I don't know what I'm talking about. I just love this Established & Sons piece of furniture soo much! Sometimes love does that to you -- leaves you speechless! Searching for the words, but the words are not there! Anyway, I'm not sure where you can buy this, but try Established & Sons in England or somewhere else.

If I had $9,000 to spare....

...and a 100,000 square foot home or office, I would totally get this Luxo the Great 1 lamp! It's totally insane to have a light this giant in your house, but under the right circumstances, it can be done! Stranger things have happened.

I like the idea of this gargantuan of lights in a room with only one piece of furniture. Perhaps a very comfy lounge chair. I also like the idea of this being in the library or one's private study. I think children would also be keen on this fun piece of furniture. In fact, it was this light that inspired the Pixar people!

The Great 1 is the sort of thing that inspires great adventures, or conspiracies. Just imagine a room full of aging but wise old men, devising how to control the charlatans that are about to invade country X. Country X has held out for centuries against many an invader, but this time country Y is strong, powerful and strategically adept in military warfare! The men of Country X, the wisest of the elders and the most decorated of statesmen, must not let their countrymen down. Then, just hours before the armies of country Y are about to descend, a heroine and sagely virtuous woman comes into the room with The Great 1 to announce the winning strategy...

The Great 1 is made for legendary events. Do you have one in mind? Perhaps President Obama might consider one of these for his "situation" room. The recession would surely end...

If I had $1,500 to spare....

...I would consider getting this awesome Prouve Potence lamp! (That is, of course, if I had a lot more than $1,500 to spare -- it's not wise to use your savings to buy things like this!!)

I think this lamp works well if you are for some reason not able to have a chandelier or lighting on your ceiling (such as is the case with many people with concrete ceilings with no track lighting). Just look at how beautiful and simple this lamp is! It's industrial, sure, but not cold in any way! I wish, I wish....

If anyone found $1,500 on their way home from somewhere, it probably fell out of my wallet! Just give me a ring! Thanks!

Hella Jongerius, will you marry me?

Hella is my favorite designer, though I don't own anything made by her. But one can love from afar! Everytime I go into a Vitra store (or anywhere else where Hella's genius is on display), I feel my heart skip a couple of beats. In fact, when I first laid my eyes upon her Polder Sofa, I fell in love, on the spot! Such is the effect of Hella's art...

Anyway, check out these cool Rotterdam chairs. They are super cool and will definitely liven up your seating area or wherever you need chairs. Me definitely likey!

Tokyo Design Guide!

To all the CLI readers on their way to Tokyo, you MUST read our Tokyo Design Guide before boarding the plane. Yes, you read that correctly. If you want to check out cool furniture and home accessory stores while traveling and visiting one of the most awesome cities in the world, look no further than this carefully compiled list of design and furniture stores!

Here goes...

GINZA

Sempre - 2-5-1 Yurakucho Seibu Fashion 5F, Yurakucho Chiyoda-ku http://www.sempre.jp/
A really, REALLY awesome store, but check out the location in Omotesando for even more thrills, since it’s a great deal bigger! (Thanks to Design Sponge for pointing this place out to me before I left for Japan!)

Bals Tokyo - Velvia 4/5F 2-4-6 Ginza, Chuo- http://www.balstokyo.com/en/
A high-end up, super cool design store. If you are in the market for expensive furniture, come here! Everything is made by a famous designer, and worth a trip!

Case Study Shop – 1-5-1 Marunochi, Shinmaru building 4th floor, Chiyodu-ku - www.casestudy.co.jp
I like this small store since it has very cute mid-century things for your home. Worth a look for sure!

Conran Shop - 2-4-1 Marunouchi - chiyoda-ku - http://www.conran.ne.jp/shop/
This Conran Shop is very similar to other Conran Shops all around the world, so you know it’s bound to have something you simply cannot live without. However, I am partial to the Conran Shop in New York…maybe it was the prices!

Muji – just walk around and you will find a Muji store eventually. I cannot get enough of Muji. I practically went to Muji every single day I was in Tokyo. I just love it. I love the clothes, the food, the furniture, the shoes, the snacks. I love it! Muji, will you marry me?

SHINJUKU

In the Room - 3-1-13 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku - http://www.intheroom.jp/
In the Room is sort of like the Japanese version of Crate and Barrel, and so I wasn’t in love with it. However, they do have REALLY cool clocks for your house.

Actus – BYG Building 1&2F 2-19-1 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku - http://www.actus-interior.com/
I love this store! I found it by accident after I asked someone where I could find more European/Scandinavian furniture stores. They have such cool things here. I bought a really cool tissue holder here. It’s soo cool. I can’t wait to sneeze again so I can get another 100% recycled tissue for my nose! This store is a must see for those who like modern-ish design.

BoConcept -- 1,2,3F T&T bld 3-32-10 Shinjuku Shinjuku-ku - http://www.boconcept.co.jp/BoConcept_Shinjuku.aspx?ID=79767
I’m not a huge fan of BoConcept, but some people seem to like it, so I’m throwing it in here.

IDC Otsuka Kagu Shinjuku Showroom - 3-33-1 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo (across the street from BoConcept) - http://www.idc-otsuka.co.jp/
This giant, massive building has designer furniture from many parts of the world. It’s a good idea to check it out if you are an interior designer, but I wasn’t interested in buying anything here since I couldn’t very well fit furniture in my suitcase.

Conran Shop - 3-7-1 Shinjuku Park Tower 3F, 4F, Nishi Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku - http://www.conran.ne.jp/
See above description.

Muji – just walk around and you will find a Muji store eventually.

ROPPONGI

Bals Tokyo Roppongi by Agito - Roppongi Hills West Walk 3F
6-10-3 Roppongi, Minato, - http://www.balstokyo.com/en/shopinfo/roppongi.php

(The Roppongi Hills West Walk building has other interior design/home accessory stores, but I can’t remember the names right now. Go in the building and on the fourth or fifth floor, just wander around and look for more stores. There are at least two more to check out, and I bought a cool piggy bank at one of them).

21_21 Design Sight – 9-7-6 Akasaka, Minato-ku - http://www.2121designsight.jp/index-e.html
If you are into cool design and the people who are behind it, you MUST visit this museum. Designed by Tadao Ando, the museum itself looks like an incognito bomb shelter, with its signature concrete construction. There are signs everywhere leading to 21_21 Design Sight, so you really can’t miss it. Inside you will find great design, from furniture to cell phones and television designs. This place will definitely make you oooohhh and ahhhhh!

I’m in Love – Spanish Embassy, 1-3-29 Roppongi, Minato-ku - http://iminlove-spain.com/
I actually tried to visit this place, but I got there right when they closed. I couldn't believe my terrible luck! They open from 10am to 5:30pm, so try to get there early. Next time…

Living Motif – AXIS building B1F, 1F, 2F, 5-17-1 Roppongi, Minato-ku - www.livingmotif.com
This awesome, expensive store is in the Axis building right across the street from Ligne Roset. They have beautiful, awesome things for your house, and there are three floors to peruse. Bring your wallet!

Muji – just walk around and you will find a Muji store eventually.

DAIKANYAMA
(Daikanyama station off the Tokyo Toyoko subway line) and a short walk from Ebisu station)

Stitch Tokyo - 11-8 Sarugakucho, Shibuya-ku - http://www.stitch.jp/
The outside of this place is basically an Adidas store, but you walk inside to the back, and there it is, Stitch Tokyo, which basically has awesome mid-century furniture, mostly Eames chairs, and a lot of cool interior goods for your home. Basically, things that are small enough to carry back home in your suitcase.

Assemblage -Moncheri Daikanyama 2nd floor - http://www1k.mesh.ne.jp/assemblage/
This store is nice, and they have a lot of nice stuff, mostly for your kitchen. It’s not exactly modern, clean-lined design, but they do have very nice things here. They also have a café if you are tired of walking around. (Thanks to Design Sponge for pointing this place out to me before I left for Japan!)

Muji – just walk around and you will find a Muji store eventually.

AOYAMA
(off Harajuku subway stop)

AssistOn - 3F 3-23-1, Zingumae, Shibuyaku- http://www.assiston.co.jp/
This little store is pretty awesome, and it has won many Japan design awards to prove it. They have cool things here for your desk and home. I almost bought everything here, but I couldn’t decide, so I left. Now I’m sad.

Shop Innovator & Casablanca - 3-50-11 Sendagaya, Shibuya-ku - http://www.innovator.co.jp/
If you are in the market for Scandinavian pillows or blankets and furniture, come check this store out. (Thanks to Design Sponge for pointing this place out to me before I left for Japan!)

Detail - 2-28-3 sendagaya shibuya-ku - http://www.detail.co.jp/index.html
This store is pretty cute, and has a lot of fun little things for your house, like trashcans, tissue holders, clocks, alarms, mirros, etc. It’s north of the Harajuku subway station, so it’s a little out of the way, but I think it’s worth the 10 or 15 minute walk.

Cibone Aoyama - Aoyama Bell Commons B1, 2-14-6 Kita-Aoyama Minato-ku - http://www.cibone.com/index.html
A friend of mine (thanks, Kaye) found this store, but I was not able to check it out since I had already left Tokyo! How sad! But check it out anyway, since they have a really great selection of super cool furniture! Next time...

Muji – just walk around and you will find a Muji store eventually.

OMOTESANDO

Day by Day - 3-7-10 Kita Aoyama, Minato-ku - http://www.daybyday.jp/
This store is a little hard to find, and I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite store, since it’s quite small, and everything is super expensive. It’s not super modern, so if you’re into more of a higher-end Crate and Barrel kind of thing, check this out.

Mid-Century MODERN - 5-12-6 Hanabusa bldg.2F, Minami Aoyama, Minato-ku- http://mid-centurymodern.com/menu.html
Exactly as the name indicates, this store has all mid-century modern furniture and home accessories. If you live in Tokyo and want some Eames or Saarinen classics, come here for sure.

Sempre - 5-13-3 Minamiaoyama, Minato-ku - www.sempre.jp
This is by far my most favorite store in Tokyo, and I have the credit card statement to prove it! (Luckily, I didn’t spend too much, but the proof has been paid off!) They have super cool things here, like furniture, chairs, cushions for your chairs, kids furniture, stuff to hang on your walls, lights, cool electrical things to make your house look cool. I just cannot rave about this store enough. It is simply too beautiful for words. There is another location in Ginza, but this one is bigger and better! Watch your pennies here!

Spiral - 5-6-23 Minami Aoyama, Minato-ku- http://www.spiral.co.jp/
This store is in a really cool building, with a cool restaurant, and films and other cool events going on all the time. They have a store on the 2nd or 3rd floor, which has a lot of nice gift-type things for your friends back home! Check it out for sure!

MoMA Design Store - 5-10-1 GYRE3F, Jingumae, Shibuya-ku - http://www.momastore.jp/
If you’ve been to a MOMA Design Store, you will know what to find here. If not, shame on you for not visiting sooner! All the classics are on display here as well as some cool new modern home accessories. Everything is more expensive than in the New York store, but what can you expect with all the shipping costs.

Idea Frames - Omotesando Hills West B2F, 4-12-10 Jingumae. Shibuya-ku http://www.idea-frames.com/
This store is pretty much across the street from the MOMA Design Store, and is pretty awesome. They have cool gadgets for your house, like cool alarm clocks, speakers, air purifiers, pens, wall hangings, etc. It’s a great place to get someone a gift. I wish I had gone back there, but they have a few locations all over Tokyo, so you are bound to run into another one, though this one is probably the coolest, and it’s in the Omotesando Hills mall, designed by…wait for it…Tadao Ando! A must see!!

HH Style Aoyama Store - 2-7-15 NTT Aoyama bldg. escorter AOYAMA, Kita-Aoyama, Minato-ku - http://www.hhstyle.com/
The first time I went to this store, I thought it was all Vitra. But it’s not! By far, the best furniture store in Tokyo, or even the world, this store kind of reminds of Design Within Reach, only there is something different about it. I’m not sure what it is. Maybe it’s because it’s designed by Tadao Ando. Be warned, though, that the prices here are WAYYYY higher than DWR. That’s to be expected, but still. I think one might go bankrupt after shopping here, but if you have the means, do it! In particular, check out the Polder Sofa by Hella Jongerius on the 2nd or 3rd floor. I fell in love again when I saw it just sitting there, waiting for me…

Note: Apparently there is another location a few blocks away:
hhstyle.com Harajuku Store -- 6-14-2 Jingumae Shibuya-ku

Muji – just walk around and you will find a Muji store eventually.

SHIBUYA

Loft – 21-1 Udagawa-cho, Shibuya-ku- http://www.loft.co.jp/shop/shibuya/index.htm#
This is one of my favorite stores, and it’s also in Shibuya, which is super fun. There are about 7 floors in total, and each has something fun to offer. I usually head to the 4th or 5th floor, which has super cool furniture designed by Japanese people. If I lived in Japan, I would totally buy furniture here because 1) it’s affordable and 2) it’s awesome and 3) because it’s awesome. I highly recommend visiting this store.

Franc Franc - B1F~3F,12-9,Udagawa-cho,Shibuya-ku- http://www.francfranc.com/
This awesome store reminds of the Japanese response to IKEA. I do think the stuff here is a bit more design-ish, but maybe that’s because I’ve never been to IKEA in Europe. (I suspect they have cooler things in Europe than in the USA). Anyway, you can get pretty much anything you need for your house here. The prices are pretty decent as well.

Muji – just walk around and you will find a Muji store eventually.

MEGURO DORI
(a new meaning to the phrase “cool furniture street)

I will work on this later, but know that Meguro Dori (off the Meguro station on the Yamanote subway line) is lined with dozens of cool, mid-century, Scandinavian furniture shops! It is soo much fun to walk down this street and check out all the cool stores here. There are too many to list, but I’ll try later!)

Other stores I don’t know anything about, but want to visit:

Arenot Shibuya Shop - 1-4-12 Shibuya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo

Tendo-PLY - Fukasawa Bld 2F, 4-35-7 Fukasawa, Setagaya-ku,-http://www.tendo.ne.jp/ply/

i am in love....

...with this cute lamp! It's called the "Darom Lamp" and was created by an Israeli design studio (Dag-Designlab); The lamps is adjustable and made with injected molded plastic and wood. If anyone knows where I can get one other than perhaps ordering it from Israel, PLEASE let me know. I think it would make a great gift for one of the interns here at Cheese Lovers International!

Enjoy! http://www.dag-designlab.com/gallery.asp?categoryID=23

holy mary mother of ......

Who wants to come over right now and help me vandalize my current couch? It's for a good cause, and you won't get arrested! Come over whenever. Either way, I must find a way to obtain this most beautiful of sofas/couches. Piere Lissoni is a genius, and I daresay, this Alphabet Sofa is almost as cool, and maybe even worthy of being in the same category of greatness as Hella Jongerius' Polder Sofa??? Piere designed this sofa with Lego toys in mind, and I see the resemblance. I must meet this Signore Lissoni and kiss his hands! He is a truly great human being!

Update! I just found out this couch is over $6,000. Ouch!!!

the coolest coffee/nesting/side tables you have EVER seen!!

I saw these really cute Stua nesting tables in Tokyo. Wow! I don't know what else to say. They are soo cute and little, and not soo little, and then big. (Translation: they come in different sizes). So if you need a very small table, this is perfect. Or if you need something not that small, but not that big, they are still perfect. It looks like DWR is selling them right now, but in pairs of 3. The price is not that bad either at about $398. Ikea has something similar, but these are made in Spain and are of much higher quality. It would be cool if you could buy these individually. Hmmmm!

more cushions for your behind

Still on the search for comfortable cushions for your Eames molded plastic chairs? I have another great option. They also might be easier to purchase than the ones from SEMPRE mentioned a few days ago.

what time is it?

Time to get a new clock! That's right! Go out and get a new clock, and while you're at it, just get one of these! (I just made your life really easy -- you're welcome).

I'm not sure how much these cost since I can't read Japanese, but they can't be too expensive! I also don't know where you can order or buy these since I've never actually seem them in real life, but try anyway!

Good luck! Here's where you can buy them (I think): http://www.yamajitsu.co.jp/index.php

something cool to sit on

If you are like me, you like to sit on something cushiony. If you are like me and have plastic or wooden chairs, these are not always the most comfortable for lounging. Sometimes you just want to sit at your dining or kitchen table without having to move to the couch to relax. Luckily I have the perfect product for you!

http://www.sempre.jp/brand/design-cushion/

Check out this awesome felt cushion, made in Germany, from an awesome store in Tokyo called SEMPRE. It is by far my new most favorite store in the world. Too bad they are only located in Japan. Maybe one of the loyal readers of CLI can start an online petition for SEMPRE to open a store in New York or somewhere else cool? If someone does this, let us know and we will send you not one but TWO pounds of our favorite cheese!

is it a tray, art to hang on your wall, or a bag?

Check this out! This is the coolest thing ever. I just got one of these from Tokyo and put it on my wall. Later, when I have green tea or hot chocolate, I'll use the tray function to carry this to the seating area, and have a sip or two!

Get one right now if you can!!

a cool way to iron your clothes

Check out this awesome ironing board/mirror. It also has really cool looking legs. A long time ago I saw this competition on making something multi-functional, particularly ironing boards. I don't know know if this French guy, Aïssa Logerot, entered this contest, but I hope he did. Speaking of which, it might be a good idea for someone to invent a coffee table that doubles as an ironing board. The idea would involve: taking all of your things OFF the coffee table (like magazines, remote controls, coffee mugs, books, papers, plates, newpapers, note pads, netflix dvd's, regular music cd's, bills, letters, napkins, animals, coupons, children, toys, and also ice cream dishes. If there is anything else I left out, take that off the coffee table as well. Then, after doing all this, place the article of wrinkled clothing ON TOP of the coffee table, then use that as an ironing board. PRESTO!

Our new favorite desk

Have you been on the lookout for a totally awesome desk for your laptop? Most desks are made for giant desktop computers, but I find that less and less people are actually using desktops. Oh wait, I was about to say that I don't know anyone who has a desktop, but then I just thought of at least 3 people I know very well who has iMacs or something close to that.

Nevermind! But for those of us who prefer more portable computers, this is by far the BEST desk out there for you. Made by Bluelounge, this affordable desk ($600)is especially designed to de-clutter all the wires and cables that make ones work space look, well, kind of like caca! I simply can't stand all the wires and cables and stuff hanging everywhere. We at CLI like neat, simple and clean things. Totally check out this desk; It even ships flat! I totally want one someday! The best thing about it is that you will only have ONE cord to plug in! Wow, this desk really made my day!

P.S. I just found this for a better price at $500 here: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/645950-REG/Bluelounge_SD_WH_STUDIO_DESK.html

A couch that inspires

This totally beautiful couch designed by Matthew Hilton for De La Espada is simply divine. Just admire its beautiful legs and inviting and soft-looking seating. It is easy to imagine oneself sitting here with the intention of reading a book or watching television, but instead starring at the sofa! The 350 Hepburn sofa is comfort and style without being presumptuous or snooty. A definite CLI pick!

A new cheese to drool over (well, new for CLI anyway!)

The other day one of the interns at CLI was making herself a sandwich with honey roasted turkey and drunken goat cheese. What an odd combination, we thought! But alas, we were wrong. The intern was generous enough to let one of the editors try a piece of this divine sandwich, and, dare we say, the cheese was quite good! With a mild fruit flavor, it kind of reminds us of a warm Spring day when children rummage through forests in search of pots of gold after chasing a rainbow! In fact, the drunken goat really brightened our day! Of course, the traditional way to enjoy this Spanish cheese is to savor it with olives and perhaps some chorizo!

love at first....light!

We at CLI will never, ever stop ooohing and ahhhing over this beautiful and super cool table lamp by Studioilse (designed by Ilse Crawford). We especially like the red cord. Cords are usually things that should be hidden, but this one is an exception. At $550, it's a bit pricey, but maybe it's on sale somewhere, somehow?

another blu dot product we like!

We at Cheese Lovers International really like Blu Dot's products, especially the new-ish One Night Stand sofa. So we were delighted to stumble upon one of their newest products -- a cool lamp! Unfortunately this cool lamp, which does not have a name yet, is not available anywhere on their website. BUT, when it comes out, we hope it will be affordable!

a "guillotine" style seating arrangement

Check out this cool bench/seating area/table by Henry Julier appropriately named "Guillotine." It seems like the Guillotine can be used as a bench, but maybe also as a coffee table of sorts. We at CLI think it's quite clever, but not quite sure how much it costs.
