I wish I had this!

Wow! This bomb ass side table by Christoph Boeninger is totally sweet. If I had a more industrial looking house, I would totally get this. It comes in black and is available at the MOMA Design Store. Me likey!!

A very cool small little clock

Wow, this clock is awesome. It's very cute and stylish at the same time - almost playful. Who says a home must look serious and boring? Not moi! If only I knew who makes this clock. If anyone knows, I will reward you by treating you to my favorite cheese!

UPDATE: The clock is made by Riki Watanabe and is called the Riki Desk Clock. My cheese offer no longer stands!

A cool idea for a small living space

This unfolding office by Michael Chen (Normal Projects) is an awesome contraption, especially if your living area is tiny. I love the colors, the storage above the bed, and all the cool little hidden shelves and work areas!! I almost want a tiny place so that I can have something like this. But then I'd have to be rich to be able to afford it, and if I was rich, I'd probably want a bigger apartment. Quite a conundrum!

Check out this link for even more cool views of this sweet piece of furniture. http://www.normalprojects.com/?page_id=17

Something scary in YOUR house!!

This video is pretty scary! But make sure you watch it because it can possibly save your life!!

Another classic -- 2cool 4school!

These little storage units designed by Anna Castelli Ferrieri in the 1960s are soo super cool! When I first saw one it was like love at first sight. For real! They aren't that expensive, and the good thing is they are often sold on craigslist (that's where I got mine). You should totally get one. You totally will not regret it.

Humboldt Fog

I love goat cheese. It's soo creamy and soft. I love how you can eat with it bread, fruit or all by itself. It's a cheese lover's cheese.

This particular creation, called Humboldt Fog (from the foggy county in northern California), is mild, tangy and lemony. Isn't it beautiful? It's made at Cypress Grove Chevre, and next time I am in California, I WILL visit this cheese heaven! Another cool thing is that Cypress Grove Chevre is owned and operated by a mother-daughter team. I bet these two women are FIERCE!

Another cool thing!

This interesting clock/plant/cool thing is called the Timeless Garden, and it was designed by Francesco Castiglione Morelli and Tommaso Ceschi. The digital clock is ingeniusly powered by the mud that is growing the grass! Check it out here: http://www.castiglionemorellidesign.it/

If only I knew where to get one of these.

The world as we know it is changing!

This post has nothing to do with cheese or the finer things in life, but I could not resist letting you know about this awesome website: www.gayelle.org

I believe the term "gayelle" signals a new era of female gay coolness. Too long has the term "lesbian" hegemonized the fragile identity of an entire community of people. Gay women of the world UNITE! Let the world know we are cool, and we no longer accept such an antiquated term (named after a Greek island) to determine our socio-economic fate!

The coolest way to get around town....

I was always jealous of all those kids who get to ride around in cool little kick scooters. Why do kids always get to do fun looking things, and adults have to act all serious and annoying? Why do they get to have all the fun? It doesn't make sense. Luckily, a company called Xootr felt the same way, and invented a bunch of cool kick scooters ONLY for adults! So, to all you little kids out there, this is NOT for you! Don't even try to buy one of these because you aren't allowed. Besides, how could a little kid afford to buy a cool Xootr scooter? I guess adulthood does have its privileges!

Anyway, I have a Xootr MG and it is AWESOME! Seriously. Not only that but you get to take it on the subway with you and you can go into stores and movie theaters and everywhere else without anyone giving you any grief. It's wayyy smaller than a bike! And it's good in that it helps you get a lot of exercise! AND it looks cool!*

http://www.xootr.com/kick-scooter_mg.html

By the way, some people might not think riding a xootr is cool. In fact, you might be called a geek or a nerd. Rest assured the real reason is because these name-callers are just jealous! Jealous that they don't have a cool Xootr MG like you!

Danish havarti cheese -- an iconic legend

Danish havarti used to be one of my favorite cheeses. The most delicious thing to do with havarti is to make this open-faced sandwich, which I will kindly describe below:

Ingredients:
A long baguette of your choice
Mushrooms
Sundried tomatoes
Olive oil
A pan to cook on or maybe an oven pan

Cook the mushrooms on a skillet or in the oven with some olive oil, and at the very end add the sundried tomatoes so they can warm a little. Next only slightly toast the baguette, and put the havarti cheese on top so that it can melt a little. Next add the cooked mushrooms and warmed sundried tomates on top of the slightly melted cheese. Garnish with a little black pepper if you'd like, then eat away!

I wish I hadn't just posted this because now I'm completely starving.

Cool storage thing!

If you ever have a chance to visit Alexandra, Virginia, you MUST check out this store: http://www.danieldonnelly.com/default.htm

I love this storage container, but I think the cost is around $1,600. Too rich for my blood at this point...

What is YOUR favorite cheese?

I am conducting a poll about cheese. Like, what is your favorite kind? I can't tell you what MY favorite is because, well, it's top secret. It's important to know what kind of cheese your friends like, just as important perhaps as knowing their favorite movies! Like, if your friend's favorite movie is "License to Wed," you might want to rethink the friendship. Or if your friend's favorite movie is "Halloween," that means your friend is kind of weird and likes to scare people! I find that people who like movies like "Anchorman," "Blades of Glory" or "Babe" are really, really cool.

I digress; So as I've said, knowing what kind of cheese your buddy is into can really help you determine a lot. And remember, be as honest as possible! The poll is on the left side of the page!

By the way, that cute little mouse was not harmed in the production process of this post! I am a friend to cute animals!!!

Peter, Bjorn and John

This band is kind of cool. I kind of like them. Maybe you might kind of like them too. At least kind of!

http://www.peterbjornandjohn.com/

The scary thing is the guy on the right with the beard kind of looks like a male version of me. Kind of! It's kind of freaking me out.

Anyway, they are opening for Depeche Mode's Tour of the Universe in August! Nice!

another cool eco-friendly thing!

I like this cool bookshelf by a company called Housefish. All their furniture is FSC certified and made in Colorado! It's not THAT expensive, compared to other similarly designed bookcases, but it's not cheap either.

Check out the company's website: http://www.housefish.com/

cool side/magazine/telephone table

One of my cool neighbors has this cool little side table. I really want one like it, but people on Ebay keep bidding too high! Don't they know there's a severe recession going on? Someone needs to tell them.

Port wine cheddar: A long lost love of mine...

Long ago, port wine cheddar was something I could not live without. How quickly the heart forgets long lost loves! How feeble is the mind and heart! How swiftly does loyalty get betrayed when eyes are cast upon other, more "exotic" cheeses!

Luckily, a kind neighbor of mine was serving this at her house recently, and my eyes burst in excitement as I exclaimed "Port wine cheddar!"*

One of my old rituals involved eating port wine cheddar with some delicious, fresh sourdough bread. I used to eat this cheese with some other bread, but I can't remember the name right now.

*My eyes did not actually "burst," but my heart almost did!

A cool DIY compact flourescent light for your house

I've been looking for some cool lighting for a long time, and then I saw this awesome do-it-yourself light! All you need to build this is:
-a used translucent plastic container
-a CFL bulb
-a bulb fitting with plug
-a sharp Stanley knife

Here are some directions:
http://www.r3project-english.blogspot.com/

If you find a strong enough container, you can make it into a seat or table or something. Nice!

an awesome eco-friendly bookshelf

This bookshelf by InModern is totally sweet, and it's constructed from just twelve pieces of Forest Stewardship Council environmentally friendly wood. The doors slide open and so there's plenty of room to store cool DVD's (like Da Ali G Show, Anchorman, Best in Show, Blades of Glory, Aladdin, etc.). Assembles in seconds with InModern's patented, and no tools required!

Best of all, it costs around $600 to $700 with no shipping costs. (Target is also selling this shelf, but only via its online store). Much cheaper than the Eames storage unit that I am STILL in love with. Me likey for sure!

If you have trouble waking up in the morning, like I do, try using this alarm above. This is how it works: A frozen strip of bacon is placed in Wake n' Bacon the night before. Because there is a 10 minute cooking time, the clock is set to go off 10 minutes before the desired waking time. Once the alarm goes off, the clock it sends a signal to a small speaker to generate the alarm sound.

This alarm is a great idea and all, but I would need one that also simultaneously makes eggs along with the bacon. I don't like to eat bacon alone. That would be like eating donuts without milk, or pizza without pepperoni! Sacrilege! Blasphemy! Heresy!!

A Top Secret Item!!

At the risk of being excommunicated by a certain friend of mine, I am posting this very special item from Singapore.

Are you someone who enjoys toast with jam? Do you enjoy french toast? Are you bold enough to try new things? If so, my friends, I have the most delicious product for you. It's called kaya jam, and it is basically a coconut egg spread. I promise you, it is truly breathtaking. It is unbelievable. It may even bring tears to your eyes!

I am told it is only available for sale in Singapore, but guess what? I found a place in New York City that sells the stuff!

What style are YOU?

Woozers, this site is super cool! If you have trouble picturing what type of furniture/home decor you are into, take this test:

http://mydeco.com/imagini/test/

A wonderful cheese; Full of zing!

I recently had this gorgonzola piccante, and it was scrumptous.* You must eat this with some red wine, and you MUST have a soft bagette. More ideal is to pair it with berries, pears, peaches, plums, walnuts and honey. The cheese is a bit overpowering to eat alone.

*Note: I did not actually eat the exact cheese pictured, but rather at a place called 'Inoteca in NYC.
