Felix de Pass...

...is a cool dude with a cool name. I've always liked the name "Felix" -- it has a grand sound to it. Anyway, check out his "Rails" wall shelf thing. Very cool and space saving and...cool! I like the idea of being able to use a coat hanging shelf for books and other things. What a clever idea. Felix is a clever cat! Get it? Like Felix the Cat?

Stop the presses!

This just in from Milan Design Week 2010 (I think): Alessandro Zambelli, creater of the notoriously cool products, clothing and furniture has just created another masterpiece. Behold the Seletti Stack!

Ladies and gentlemen, I don't think this awesomeness needs any words. Just admire, if you will! Just admire!

A cool video on Established & Sons

Every once in a while, we at CLI like to bring our readers something interesting. Today we'd like to share this cool video about our favorite furniture company, Established & Sons. You'll note the museum-like vibe and quality of this video exhibit, and indeed, we imagine that one day this esteemed company's products will be featured in cool cultural institutions, like the Museum of Modern Art.

Another cool Japanese thing

This little "Bath Mat" by Fragment Design is really kind of awesome. I love the color and the little detailed designs on the top. It's soo cool I wouldn't want to actually step on it, but I guess eventually I would get over its coolness and wipe my wet after-shower feet. If any of our loyal Cheese Lovers International (CLI) readers can read Japanese, this is where you can buy this. Let us know how much and where one can get their hands on the Bath Mat by Fragment Design!

The south IS kind of a cool place

For those of us who consider Washington, D.C. to be the "South," I have news for you: I have no idea if I agree with you, but I do know that D.C. is kind of cool. There are some cool indy furniture shops and lots of eco-friendly options to go around! Who knew D.C. was kind of cool AND green?

Speaking of cool, there's a cool store/place called "Well Built" in the U Street area of D.C., and they have awesome furniture there!! It's also VERY green and indy designed! We like it! Unfortunately their website doesn't have too much information, but here are a couple of cool items: http://www.wellbuiltllc.com/index.html

Blu Dot

I can't believe we at CLI have neglected to ever blog about a furniture company we have always really liked: Blu Dot. Blu Dot is a cool American company whose motto "Good Design is Good" really tickles our fancy. One of our favorites is their "Modulicious" storage things/bookshelf/something to hold things. We also like their "One Night Stand" and "Animal" sofa. The pricing is not too bad, but it seems like a good idea to wait a few years so that customers can post reviews of their sofas before actually buying one.

Still, we love the Modulicious!

A chance to win a prize from CLI!

Recently CLI's intern vacationed in Amsterdam, and took a picture of something pretty cool at a store called Friday Next. The trouble is we can't seem to identify who is the creator of this fine piece of furniture. Can you, dear reader, help us out? If you correctly identify the designer, name and other information, we will give you THREE pounds of our favorite cheese! This is unprecedented! You would be a fool not to jump at this chance.

Good luck, boys and girls!

Sniffle sniffle!

Friends of CLI, allergy season is here! It has come this year with a vengeance, and well, that makes us sad. Though there are number of really decent air purifiers and allergen reducers, it doesn't seem that much thought was given to the actual design and aesthetic appeal of these numerous gadgets (just do a google search of air purifiers and you will see what we mean).

Luckily we stumbled upon this really cute new product from Ikea, called the Patrull Air Cleaner. It is soo cute! While it might not be the best product out there to help fight these blasted air invaders, this is not an option that put you at the verge of bankruptcy! Unfortunately, the Patrull is not yet available in the US, but stay tuned!

Beds!

For some reason, we at CLI have not included too many beds in our arsenal of glorious furniture and other cool things! That is an odd fact, considering most of us* spent the majority of our lives in beds. Sadly, we have no excuse. Maybe it's because we are quite pleased with our own personal bed selection that we have never bothered to think more about the subject.

Alas, we have decided to open our eyes to other bed options, like this beautiful bamboo Buden bed. It is soo cool and simple. And it has storage!! Why would furniture designers nowadays NOT include storage in every single piece of furniture? Too bad it's a bit expensive. (Another option is the Stillwell bed from Wonk Furniture in Brooklyn, NY -- http://www.wonknyc.com/furniture/Stillwell1/?img4=1).

Check out Buden here! http://www.viesso.com/products/modelProfile.php?modelID=87

Something revolutionary!!

Every so often, there is a daring, revolutionary occurrence in life. For example, the day when someone dared to explore the surface of the moon! Or perhaps the day someone thought to allow women to vote. Or the day someone suggested eating bananas WITH ice cream. Ladies and jellyspoons, today is another one of those days. A guy by the name of Jim Zavic decided to try something neat, and that is to use wool felt on a coffee table! I know, I know! You don't believe it either! But it's true, I say! Truer than the words mustered by Abraham Lincoln!

We at CLI must do some more research on felt as an appropriate material for coffee tables (since coffee sometimes will spill). But we do like the idea! Wool is a natural, rapidly renewing material, and it has a nice modern organic aesthetic. It seems almost Japanese.

Anyway, check it out here: http://www.jimzivicdesign.com/Felt_coffee_table.html

I don't know what to say about this

...except that anything Tom Dixon touches turn to gold. I simply love this little Offcut Fluoro Stool. It is just soo fun and cool. I wish I had one right now, but actually the chair I'm sitting on is pretty cute, too. (More on that later). For now, allow your eyes to feast upon true beauty and greatness. I even love the color!

Cute little side tables

There's a cool Seattle-based company called Chadhaus (named after Chad's House, I presume?) that makes cool wood furniture in a sustainable way. It seems more country-chic or country-modern to me, but you be the judge. Anywho, their most colorful furniture are these cool bright and playful side tables. Check them out below! I'm not sure how much they cost, but I bet Chadhaus can make them any color you like!
